Castle Homecare and Brendan Courtney Host ‘Thinking Ahead’
Castle Homecare, the Irish-owned and managed home care services provider for older people and broadcaster and fashion designer, Brendan Courtney hosted ‘Thinking Ahead’. Thinking Ahead comprises a series of FREE talks aimed at encouraging older people and their families to plan for the future.
The event, which is being held as part of Age Action’s Positive Ageing Week, was officially opened by the Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, Jim Daly, TD at the Stillorgan Park Hotel today.
Speaking at the event the Minister offered some insight into the Government’s proposed plans to extend the Fair Deal scheme to Home Care. Brendan Courtney shared his own experience in caring for his late father following the documentary broadcast earlier this year.
Justin Moran, Head of Advocacy and Communications at Age Action spoke about Positive Aging Week. Jim Coffey gave a fascinating account of his successful home renovation project in which together with his wife, Lillian, they successfully downsized their home in preparation for the future. The result is a stunning example of what can be done, if you plan ahead.
Sgt James Malone, Crime Prevention Officer with the Garda Síochána discussed the latest trends in crimes against older people and offered tips and advice to all attendees on how to stay safe.
