Euromedic Ireland, Ireland’s leading provider of medical scans, has partnered with the Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre (MPHC) to provide ultrasound services for patients in the North Cork area.
Euromedic’s ultrasound service in MPHC will provide patients with fast access to diagnostic ultrasound scans upon referral from their GP. It will work in partnership with the local primary care community and allow patients to avoid waiting lists and delays in reporting results.
CEO of Euromedic Ireland, Mr Colm Davitt, said: “Our partnership with Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre is part of our primary care strategy which will see us delivering medical scans to communities throughout the country. Our provision of services at MPHC means patients can bypass waiting lists in the public system and access ultrasound scans in an affordable private hospital setting.”
Mr Davitt continued: “Furthermore, we intend to expand our services at MPHC by providing DXA scans, used to measure bone density and to diagnose osteoporosis, later this year.”
The ultrasound scans performed in the Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre will be reported on by Euromedic’s Cork-based consultant radiologists who are accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI). Reports will be returned to the GP within 48 hours of the scan taking place.
Dr David Molony, GP at MPHC, said, “The addition of Euromedic’s services to our centre means easier access to ultrasound for patients for the whole North Cork area and in surrounding counties.”
The service in North Cork will work closely with Euromedic’s flagship centre in the Elysian in Cork City which provides a full suite of medical scans including MRI, CT, X-Ray, DXA and Ultrasound.
