Aoife O’Donnell – Founder and Managing Director

Aoife O’ Donnell is a marketing and PR professional with 18 years experience in healthcare communications.

Immediately prior to the establishment of Vital Communications, Aoife headed up the Sales and Marketing Department at Euromedic Ireland, a leading diagnostic imaging provider for the primary care sector in Ireland. During her time here, Aoife led the development and the communication of the Euromedic brand (now Affidea) in Ireland following its entry into the Irish market in 2007.

Prior to this, Aoife worked for many years in the public relations industry, where she represented many national and international clients.  Over the course of her career, Aoife developed an interest in healthcare and began to build a portfolio of work in this area.  Over the years, she has worked with many healthcare organisations and causes and is thoroughly passionate about what she does.

Nikki Cathcart, PR Consultant

Nikki Cathcart is a senior PR and communications consultant with particular expertise in the corporate, education and healthcare sectors.

Throughout the last 15 years, she has worked with some of Ireland’s leading PR firms, representing a varied portfolio of Irish and international clients. Her healthcare experience spans medical research organisations, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, hospitals, professional associations and patient groups.

Nikki has a proven track record in delivering successful communications strategies for clients, including award-winning campaigns for Novartis (AMD Awareness Week) and the France Ireland Chamber of Commerce.

She holds an MA in Public Relations from Dublin Institute of Technology and a BA in Sociology & French from Trinity College Dublin.

Aoife Farrell – Graphic Designer

Aoife Farrell is a creative graphic designer with the unique ability of being able to interpret our clients’ requirements creatively and realistically.

Aoife has a passion for great design and typography and an appetite for solving design problems.

Aoife has worked for many brands and campaigns such as One Fab Day, The Mater Foundation, The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and Childminding Ireland.

Aoife holds a first class honours degree in Visual Communications from Athlone Institute of Technology and a Masters in Multimedia from Dublin City University, also with first class honours.

In August 2012, Aoife was one of six designers selected to participate in the ICAD Upstarts programme, an intensive series of workshops run by the Institute of Creative Advertising and Design.

June Shannon

June Shannon – Healthcare Journalist

June Shannon is an award winning Irish medical journalist working in Dublin.

With more than ten years’ experience in health and medical reporting in Ireland, June has written extensively on a range of topics from health politics and policy, to health economics, medical education, clinical developments and research.

She has a special interest in mental health, social equity in the health service and the health of socially excluded groups such as the homeless. June is also interested in healthcare social media and health information technology.

Her work has been published in the Irish Times, The Irish Independent, The Irish Medical Times, The Irish Medical News and the Medical Independent to name but a few and she has also appeared on national television and radio as a specialist health contributor.


Dr Darach Ó Ciardha

Dr Darach Ó Ciardha – Non-Executive Director

Dr Ó Ciardha is a GP in West Dublin.

Graduating from UCD in 2000 Dr Ó Ciardha is a GP and currently practices in Tallaght in Dublin.  He is also an Assistant Programme Director on the TCD HSE GP Training Scheme.
